High hopes are being built and with the past recorded failures of the  PDP led administration since the inception of democracy in our dear country Nigeria, we craved for a better government which will in turn bring about the needed change in our country, and interestingly, our votes counted!

May 29th is the day we’re all waiting for. But it should be stressed that no human being can be God and as such, we shouldn’t expect miracles or some kind of magic that things will turn out as expected overnight. If we do not down-play in our expectations, many would be disappointed and how great that will be!

“Blessed are those who do not expect, for they shall not be disappointed”

The major reason for expectations being high is not unconnected with the rate at which things have deteriorated, the judiciary, education, transport, other major sectors of the economy and the economy at large. All these were spearheaded by some PDP technocrat and as well, these periods endured untold suffering and hardship for the people whilst the elite class got themselves enriched massively.

Dealing with the topic proper, we need to know that Buhari has come and with what we’re seeing so far, we want to believe that with him, Nigeria will become a better country.

President Goodluck Jonathan in his agenda meant good for the people and he wanted good for his government, but, the incessant beasty behaviour of the so-called elites marred the government, they directly and indirectly infuriated the people to rebel against the government. He turned out very old due to pressure from everywhere.

Another factor that contributed to the fall of his government is the psycho-social problem of the masses that brings about their gullible and insatiable nature. Whenever these omen get to play in a people, they become stiff-necked  and difficult to please. And this is what GEJ faced, and it led to dissatisfaction which is the prime factor of his present status today.

Not prophecy but…

I see the same thing happening in Buhari’s administration if we are not going to downplay and take whatever he’s going to give to the masses. Last week, governor Suswam of Benue state presented 8 expensive SUVs to the governor-elect, Chief Samuel Ortom to facilitate the transition process, but the people misinterpreted that move and opined that Ortom’s lips are being sealed by the vehicles, as a matter of fact, it’s a normal thing to do when a government is leaving, it is done to facilitate the transition process. So, the goodnews is then that the faster we begin to see the positive aspect of what our leaders do, the better for us.

Take this scenario for instance, when the Chibok girls saga was up, nobody saw that the government was doing anything as to the release of the girls, but I believe that when a problem ensues, it is far better to examine the issue from inside out to know how to begin tackling. This I believe was what president Goodluck did and today after the cross examination, he has been able to track down the beasts called Boko Haram members. But instead of giving applause to him, he’s being accredited as a weak president! “If he knew this, why had he not applied it in good time?” The time he applied it was the best!

He borrowed the money that is being used today! When he did that, the gullible ones who are the chief confusionists would not let us hear a single word, saying that he has borrowed that money to enrich himself and his cabinet crew before he leaves office.

“Send the Army to pull down the famous Sambisa Forest!” This was the call on the president. If he had earlier done that, where would the rescued women be today? May be dead, right? Let us not be too judgmental. Let not sentiments overshadow our sense of reasoning.

Clarion Call

Buhari’s government will only be good to stand the test of time if we do not think he’s a magician or a kind of semi-god who is coming to erase corruption over the night! Let’s therefore wait patiently and see how things will turn out to be.

A public speaker wrote, “real change starts with us”. That is to say, the change we’re clamouring for should begin at us! From changing our lifestyles and attitude to how we look at things and from our perspective to that of others.

This is the only way we can build a better, stronger and a successful country with an enviable government.
