We can confirm that Benue workers have began receiving June Salary.
This is coming a little earlier than expected as the State Governor, Dr Samuel Ortom promised to pay only after a staff audit which he said will take three weeks.
After securing a N10b loan and paying just one month salary, the governor has come under heavy criticism, that may have forced his hand to move quickly.
This move also clears the way for striking unions in the state to call off, as it was one of their demands that at least two months salary is paid.
Governor Ortom will now look to work up the state internally generated revenue from the present N250 million to about N250b to augment the N2.7b bailout funds from the federal government to offset the outstanding salaries owed workers in the state.
