A 30-year-old man thought he was just going to be a guest at a wedding in India last week but he ended up being the groom, the Times of India reports.

The bride’s family apparently fought with the original groom Monday and he walked off angrily; he didn’t return as expected Tuesday and could not be found, and the wedding was scheduled for the following day.
That’s when the guest, a relative of the bride, offered to marry her in what the Times calls “a kind gesture.” The family was “relieved” when the wedding took place on schedule.
